Fashion Update

Hello all!! and Happy New Year! OK so 2010 is upon us. So much has become hot and then not. As you look at some of my pictures on the blog, you can see my many phases ive gone through. Right now its goth. I went through this phase about six months ago and loved it so much I needed to go back. There are some great stores out there to build on this look. GothiCats is an old fave. Ive been buying outfits from them since the beginning. 2007 I bought great Rock and Roll style outfits when I went through my head bangers phase. Now they have kick ass outfits for all. Neko happy people defiantly need to try this store out. YES when I went through my Neko phase in 2008 I bought many an outfit there. Few other great stops are CK and A&M. For basic things like jeans, League, with their bandanna in the back pocket and Dutch Touch with just fantastic basics all round...both a must see. Now, I feel that I need to comment on the sculpted feet that showed up last year. I think we all have one or two or ten pairs of these shoes now. But I felt I needed to comment on my favorite place to buy them. After going all around sl, looking at quality etc, my favorite is bar-nun Maitreya. Yes they are on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for. Good quality that are easy to match to your skin tone. So go check them out. On the subject of shoes, my gurl Tia gave me a Christmas present from N-core. OMG the boots there are fantastic and a must have. They have sculpty feet shoes also, I have not seen them on however so im not sure how they look etc.

So for the start of 2010, my words of wisdom for fashion are...... Find what makes you happy. There is something for everyone. Always feel free to send me a notecard with questions and I will get back to you as soon as I possibly can. And as always..HAPPY SHOPPING!! Peace :)

Dancing Again

So about a month ago Rich decided that he wanted to start dancing again. So he started up at Club Viper, A new club on sl, great music and events. So of course I would go to the events to support. The owner found out I used to dance and often WITH Rich. So he invited me to join Rich and here we are, now dancing together. SO Saturday's 7pm slt you can find Rich and I at Club Viper. Come on down and hang out with us. Its always a party when were dancing :) See you soon! Peace

Owning/Renting Land 101

So you think its time to get your own slice of SL now? You been in sl for what….2 weeks? Yeah lol its time. So I thought I might give you some ins and outs of owning & renting.

First, you may ask, what’s the difference? Well in most cases not much. I would recommend renting first…find a sim that makes you happy, cuz honestly, that’s what sl is about right? Being happy?
Before I get started I want to go over some terms with you.

1. Prim or Primitives = each object in sl has a “prim” count. This is the amount of items it takes to make up the object. To find out how many prims an object has you click on the item and click the edit button. Once the pop-up window appears you will see at the top it says Primitives with a number next to it. That is your prim count.
2. Parcel = land
3. Sim = Simulator…this is like an island in sl.
4. Mainland = owned by Lindens
5. Tier = payment for owning land. This in the end goes to the Lindens for payment of using their servers.

Right, so, renting, find a nice house or condo or skybox. A good price for a skybox at about 150 prims is L$250 a week. Condos should give you about 250 prims at L$375 a week & houses go for about L$500-L$1000 a week for 300-900 prims. I can recommend a WONDERFUL sim that has these things all in a beautiful tropical setting. Just IM me in-world and I will send you a lm :D

NOW, for the renting of a parcel…This is pretty much like renting a building, but you get land and you can put up what you want within your prim count. The best price on a sim is L$1.8 per square meter. If you find that, it means you are pretty much getting your parcel for cost.

Buying land is a whole other ball of wax. I personally owned a few parcels before buying a whole sim. It really is like buying things in rl. You need to looks for what you want, and try to get the very best price you can for it. Again, L$1.8 per sqm is a good starting point. But expect to pay more. You also will have to pay tier each month on top of that to the sim owner or the Lindens depending on who you buy it from.

So now you should have a good base for renting or buying. One thing I would also recommend when looking, find sim owners who care, who have been on sl for a while, who hang out on their own sim and are there to help you. ALSO! Make sure the sim is full of people who you will get along with. You want your sl experience to be full of happy times, NOT fighting with neighbors.

Rich and Oona's Experiment

So the other day I had this great idea. I had sent a letter to Rich and added a "game" as it were. I added to the bottom of my letter the start to a story and asked him to add to it, then send it back to me to add to and so on. So its been three days now of this, and Rich and I are loving our story so much we wanted to share it with you. We will be actually writing this book on a daily basis for you all to see...we hope you enjoy :) OH!! Red is Oona and Blue is Rich ....

Jonny zoomed down the dirt road in his big red pickup, dust flying up all around his truck. He was happy because today was Friday and he had a full weekend ahead of him. The sun was low in the sky yet it felt like a million degrees to Jonny. His arm all hot from the sun beating down on it as it hung out the window that was down. He sang to the music playing on the radio without a care in the world. But before you knew it he SLAMMED on his breaks swerving until his truck came to a stop…Jonny looked out in the road and saw a woman laying still in the gravel of the dirt road. Fumbling for his cell phone, he almost forgot the number to 911, dialed it frantically but got no connection. "Dammit! No bars out here!!" His phone was useless. Jonny knew he might be the only person to come by for hours, maybe all weekend so it was up to him to help her.... if he could. He could not see her face from his truck, she didn't seem to move, she might be dead.. or very likely, severly injured. A knot of fear and dread formed in his stomach as he worked up the nerve to get out of the truck. His legs felt like rubber, his throat parched from the July heat. "This poor woman is fully clothed and wearing a raincoat, she could die simply from the heat on a day like today." He thought to himself, hoping beyond hope that she was indeed still alive. "A rain coat? It hasn't rained a drop in a month?" Without any further hesitation he jogged over to the woman. He saw no blood, no bruises, no cuts at all other than what appeared to be a burn the size of a quarter on her right temple. He reached down to feel her neck for a pulse. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!" the woman jerked awake and screamed! Jonny fell backwards on his butt startled out of his mind. The woman sat up dazed, rubbing her head. "Ma'am?? A-a-a-are you alright?" The woman looked hollowly at Jonny and turned her gaze toward the sky "The lightning... it was everywhere""Lightning? M-m-ma'am, it hasn't rained in weeks?" Jonny stuttered as he tried to catch his breath. "No.." the confused woman continued as she looked into the cloudless summer sky "It was raining when I started out to feed them chickens, and before you could say jimmy crack corn, the thunder rained down on me like GOD himself was reaching down" Jonny looked at her like she was absolutely insane. He held out one hand to steady her "Ma'm, are you sure you didn't bump your head?" She threw her arms in the air and SCREAMED, "NO!! IT was EVERYWHERE!! Didn't you hear me?" Jonny jumped back so as not to be hit with her flailing arms. "I ran for cover as fast as I could and..and...WOOOSH I was here." Jonny actually began to chuckle some, he could not help it. This woman was in some serious need of a head Dr. and he knew the nearest one was Doc Commings in the next town over. "Ma'am, can I please give you a ride?" He beckoned her to his truck "I am going to Parabus, so I can take you as far as there." Jonny was not on his way to Parabus at all, but all he could think was if he let her just walk away, she might hurt herself or even worse someone else. The woman reluctantly agreed and climbed into the red pickup now covered in dust and grim from the road.

Jonny reved the engine of the old truck and started up the dirt road. He held out one hand to the women who seemed to have calmed down some "Jonny's the name, very pleased to meet you Ma'am." The middle aged woman peered around her long stringy dark hair caked in mud, her deep blue eyes staring almost straight through Jonny "Maa..arylue, very please to meet you sir" passed over her now dry lips. As Jonny shook her hand he could see one tear fall down her cheek and her eyes dart back to the road passing by out her window. They sped down the bumpy road for some time when Jonny pressed on the breaks as hard as he could. Screeeeeaaach...the breaks squealed. "Well all be......there's another one them dang cows!!" Puzzled, Jonny put the parking break on and got out of the truck to shoo the cow off the road. It isn't uncommon to nearly take out a cow on these long dusty roads, so Jonny wasn't sure why the Marylou seemed shocked. Jonny started shouting at the Bovine "C'mon Bessy move it.." but the cow stood almost motionless in the road. From the truck, Marylou shouts "Ya git away from that cow son, she aint no normal cow!" As Jonny looked closer he noticed the cow wasn't acting like a 'normal' cow, she wasn't chewing her cud, not swatting the flies away with her tail, and her eyes seemed blind with a milky white film over them. Marylou was now out of the truck, pulling on Johnny's shirt trying to get him back in. "There were 3 of them cows in my field before it started." said Marylou nervously. "Before what started?" asked Johnny. "Before that wild storm blew up outta nowheres!!! They wasn't my cows, they aint got the same branding" Johnny pulled away from Marylou to look closer at the cow's hind quarters, what was there wasn't a brand mark it was a hunk of metal, no bigger than a postage stamp. Jonny began pulling in real close to take a look when he got jerked back onto his butt. "DAMNIT woman!! That is the SECOND time I have ended up on my ASS when you are....." at that very moment Jonny looked up and out of nowhere a crack came down from the sky hitting the ground right between him and Marylue. A large gust of wind and more hits fell all around them. As fast as he could, he jumped up on his feet and looked for the closest building or shelter to run to. About a mile away he saw the old Sampson camp up on a large hill. he grabbed onto Marylue's hand and started running towards the cabin. The wind rushed and the lightning crashed all around them. Marylue was screaming at the top of her lungs "STOP STOP STOP!!!" But Jonny could not think of anything else but getting to that cabin. They came to the door and just as he flung the door open with the strength of his arms and some help of the wind, he turned to Marylue "quick, get inside!" when he realized all he was holding onto was the yellow raincoat. Marylue was gone.

"awww what the hell??" Johnny was torn between braving this freak storm to find Marylou or to stay in the shelter of the cabin. Deciding to keep up his heroic efforts, he covered his head with her raincoat and ran back into the storm. Calling her name was a wasted effort through the thunder and howling wind. Within 2 minutes he had lost sight of the cabin which he was thinking would have been the wiser choice than to try to find this woman. She obviously didn't want to stay where it was safe, she chose to slip away. Or did she? Johnny couldn't think about that now, he had to get back to the cabin where it was safe. Tree branches were flying everywhere, the lightning was right overhead and he could feel the static build in his body, like tiny fingers of electricity coursing through his skin. He knew he would be lit up like Vagas if he didn't find that cabin. Running as fast as he could, ducking in vain against the wind, as if it would prevent him from being the next target of the lightning, he back tracked the best he could, jumping over a small creek he remembered jumping over before. Up ahead should be the clearing where the cabin is. He was just about to make a final sprint when he realized he was not near the cabin at all. His heart started racing, and he began spinning around. His brain was going a mile a minute. He was so sure that the cabin was going to be right...there. But it was not. Where the hell was he? Where the hell was Marylue? And on that note, where was his truck? All he had was this yellow rain coat and the clothes on his back. The wind began to dye down and the the storm moved out, the sun shone through the clouds like nothing had ever happened. He could hear the birds singing like they had not a care in the world.

Jonny decided he better sit down. He flopped in the ground in a big lump. The rain coat crumpled under him sounding like a candy wrapper. He ran the grass through his fingers, it was dry as a bone. He sat up and ran both hands accross the brown almost dead grass. Not a drop of water had fallen on this land for over a month. Puzzled and confused by all the days events, he looked around for something familiar. A house, or a building of some kind. But nothing. He did see a road however, so he began walking towards that, thinking that he had to find his truck sitting on it. As he walked over the grass it crunched under his feet and the trees swaying with the leaves rustling with every gush of the breeze. He walked to the road he thought might have his truck sitting on it, and he didn't recognize anything, so he set off down the road in a daze. He walked for some time not seeing a house or car, when he heard the sounds of an engine coming up behind him. He turned to see a red pickup truck coasting and sputtering towards him. It was a truck just like his own but it was ragged and rusty, windows broken, tree branches stuck in the grill and the license place was dangling by one screw. But, Johnny recognized that license plate number just as he moved out of the way and let his own, now beat up truck, backfire and choke to a smokey stop in the field of tall grass. Johnny wasn't shocked by this event as much as he would be had he not been through the day he just had, but to see his truck that he still hadn't paid off, reduced to a pile of steaming metal, he just wanted to cry. Why did his truck rumble down the road driverless anyway? He couldn't think about it, it was hot, he was lost and his head was killing him.

Jonny walked up to his truck and swung open the now rusty old door. As he did this it fell right off its hinges onto the ground beneath his feet. The seats were all tattered and ripped and everything was covered with a coating of dust. Jonny sat down inside the cab and turned the key trying to start the engine. "CRAP!" Jonny yelled and banged on the steering wheel. "WHY cant anything go my way today?" He looked out onto the dry landscape and saw the sun starting to sink below the horizon. He decided he would camp out for the night and start out at first light to the nearest town. He climbed out if the hunk of metal truck and retrieved his gear from the back. Jonny always kept on hand a sleeping bag, though he never imagined for these reasons. He gathered wood for a fire and set up camp. The crackle of the fire was all that could be herd as the the stars came out one by one. Jonny thought about the days events, trying to piece it all together. He fell asleep trying to figure everything out and not having a clue what really occurred. He woke to the sound of a car pulling up and a door slamming. "Sir?...Sir are you OK?" Jonny opened up his eyes to a man standing over him. He sat up and rubbed his eyes "Yes, I think so" He chuckled under his breath. "Can I help you with anything?" he could hear the man say. "I would love a ride to Parabus if you don't mind?" the man had a strange look on his face, "PARABUS!?!? that town is over a hundred miles away!" Jonny rubbed his eyes again and scratched his head "Sorry for asking, I am a little confused, still waking up and all. Can you take me to the closest town then?" The man chuckled "Yeah, no problem. I cant put two words together either without a cup of coffee." Jonny packed up his things and climbed into the mans car and they started down the road to the next town.

"Im Henry Cole, been an iron worker in these parts for 22 years. Just finished up building that new bridge down in Centerville. I dont see much work coming up very soon though.. time's are gonna be tough. What do you do boy?" Jonny had to think for a minute, he honestly wasn't sure. He just finished a week of work the day before but what was he doing? "I paint." he said quickly, still not sure if that was the right answer. "Paint what? Baskets of fruit and wine glasses and things?" Asked Henry with a slight giggle in his voice. "No, I paint buildings, houses, fences, whatever needs to be painted." Henry looked at Johnny again "Must not be much work for you out here either. I've never seen a painter without paint splattered all over his shoes and hair hahaha"Jonny's head began pounding again, he really wasn't sure what he did for a living and had no idea why he said he was a painter. He was SURE that was not what he was doing yesterday, but for some reason he had a vague memory in the back of his mind of holding a paint brush standing by an old wood fence. Johnny gazed out the window, everything looked familiar but not really. There were acres of corn and wheat fields, lakes, hills, trees, houses, stores, bridges everything he had seen before but not really. He knew the local hardware store but, was it always near the diner? Wasn't the Miller farm right next to the lake? Everything was real but out of place. Henry reached in his pocket and pulled out a pack of Marlboro "Want one?" he asked Johnny who eagerly took one. "Yes, Im DYING for a smoke, I havent had one in.....ummm... Wow, I don't know, its been a while" Henry handed him his lighter, Johnny lit the cigarette and took a long drag and inhaled deep."Ahhhh that hit the spot." he exhaled gratefully. He almost instantly noticed a strange taste in his mouth. "This isnt the brand I smoke" he thought "wait... I dont smoke!" But for some reason it felt natural and comfortable. Frank turned the radio up and started singing with Charlie Daniels "The Devil went down to Georgia he was looking for a soul to steal....." Jonny sang along and felt a bit more relaxed but something in his mind told him that this song had a hint of truth to it.

~CHAPTER TWO~

They arrived in Centerville in about 20 minutes. It was a small town with all the things you imagine a town having, post office, country store, diner. Jonny looking around hoping to recognize something but nothing came to him. They pulled up in front of the diner and parked the car. Jonny climbed out and shut the door. "Well thanks so much Henry for the ride." Jonny said across the roof of the car. "No problem son, glad I was able to help ya." They parted ways when Jonny started feeling his stomach growl. He had felt like he had not eaten in a week. He opened the door to the diner just hoping someone would be there he knew. "CLANG CLANG", went the bell on the door. He walked up to the counter and sat down. "What can I get ya hun?" an older, very thin woman said from across the counter. Jonny without a hesitation "I'll have a cup of coffee, three eggs and some ham on the side" Jonny was a little taken back at how quick he answered her and hoped he liked eggs. "Any toast that hun?" Again he blurted out an answer, "rye" and again hoped that was something he was going to enjoy. The woman placed a hot cup of black coffee on the counter, sloshing some out of the cup onto the saucer. She put down some sugar and cream in front of him. "Oh I take my coffee black Ma'am" “Did he really?” he thought to himself. WOW who the heck drinks black coffee? Again pondering why he kept on blurting out answer and not knowing if they were really what he enjoyed. He sipped on his hot cup-o-joe and looked around. He could smell the delightful smells coming from the kitchen. Pretty much a greasy spoon joint, but man did the food smell good. The kind of smells you would associate with memories, but Jonny had none. Scents of cooking bacon and eggs, pancakes, and waffles all wafted towards him. He could feel his stomach grumble more. Just then a man walked through the door, "CLANG CLANG, again went the bell. He was a tall man, with a cowboy hat, dirty blue jeans and flannel shirt. Jonny could not see his eyes from under his hat, but he could smell the smoke coming from his Parlament cigarette hanging from his mouth. He sat a few stools over and took off his hat placing it down on the counter. "Usual Mark?", as she set down a cup of coffee and an ashtray. Jonny could hear his deep voice mumble something and the waitress walked away to put in the man’s order. Trying not to stare at the man Jonny kept his eyes forward as best he could. Just then he heard this deep voice from down the counter. "You’re not from here are ya?"

Jonny again thought for a moment about where he was from "No, I'm not from around here." He was pretty sure of that at least, he was almost certain he'd never been in Centerville and definitely not this diner. "My truck broke down and I got a ride into town." Mark looked at Jonny as if studying him. He was a tall man, lean build, not quite 30 but Jonny could see he had the hands of a man who has worked 50 years. Jonny wasn't quite sure why, but he made him nervous. The tension was broken when the waitress sat a plate in front of Jonny. His nerves quickly turned to starvation as he showed those eggs and ham no mercy. Something struck him out of place as he looked at the eggs with their soft yolks. He wasn't sure how to eat them, making him think he never ordered eggs that way before. Oh well, they were delicious, so what if they slide off the fork, the toast tasted great when he dipped it in the yolks. Who he was the day before, he wasn’t quite sure but he kind of resented himself for never having tried eggs this way before.

Jonny cleaned his plate in 15 minutes flat and the waitress poured him another cup of coffee without even asking. "Hope it was good hun, I'll be back with your check in two shakes" she walked away with a smile. Johnny felt 100 times better now that he had eaten but, again, for some reason he was dying for a smoke. He knew he didn't have any on him, since until an hour ago, he never smoked before, but felt his tshirt pocket for a pack anyway incase one magically appeared. No luck there however, he thought to ask Mark for a smoke but that might be too rude even for an out of towner. Mark was finished his breakfast, slid off the stool, left some cash on the bar for the waitress and started walking toward Jonny. Jonny felt that nervousness again and tried not to show this cowboy his tension. "You ok there bud? Did you lose something?" Mark now standing right next to him. "Uh... yeah" said Jonny with hesitation "I cant find my smoke's I think I left them in the car on the way here." Mark gave a half smile, and took a cigarette from his pack and handed it to Jonny "You gotta be careful hitchhiking, someone is liable to take off with more than your smokes" Jonny chuckled nervously and thanked him for the smoke. The waitress came back with the check, laying it face down she smiled "You have a good one son and come back again real soon." Jonny picked up the check, a mere $6.50 pretty cheap for a good meal. Reached into his back pocket for his wallet and felt nothing there! "Oh SHIT!!" he exclaimed "My wallet is gone!!" Jonny felt a knot rise in the pit of his stomach as if maybe he was going to return the breakfast the hard way. Mark reaches into his back pocket pulling out a leather wallet attached to a chain "You might wanna get a chain for your next wallet so this dont happen again" and takes a $10 bill out and lays it on the table. "This one is on me Rick." Jonny looked at Mark as if he saw a ghost "My name isn't Rick, it's Jonny" Mark puts a toothpick in his mouth to chew "That's not what your tattoo says.... Rick" Jonny, half scared of what he might see, looked down at his left bicep, half a sun worn tattoo showed under the sleeve of his tshirt. Raising the sleeve to get a better look, a shield of some sort, in faded red blue and green was tattooed on his arm with the name "Rick" in a banner just underneath.

Jonny jumped up from his stool with such force he would have knocked it over if it was not bolted to the floor. Still holding up his sleeve exposing the tattoo he looked at Mark then back at the markings on his arm. He flew to the back of the diner where he saw the door to the men's room and slammed it open with a huge thud and frantically looked in the mirror....."OH MY GOD!!" he looked at the unfamiliar reflection. He saw a young man with skin that had been tanned by the sun. He ran his hands through his jet black hair almost as to pull it out. Again, he was not sure, "is this me?" he thought to himself. But the reflection he saw with his deep blue eyes was not familiar. And this tattoo, he stared again at it not understanding the name "Rick" etched into his skin. He pulled himself away from the mirror, letting go of the sink he now held so tight his knuckles were white. He patted himself down as if wondering if there might be more he was not familiar with. He prayed that he had all his parts in order, but was a little scared to find out. Just as he was about to check, the door swung open and a man came through. Jonny looked at him and he stared back and half smiled. " Just checking to make sure I had all I needed" half chuckling and walked out hoping no one noticed his panic. When he got back out to the counter where he had devoured his breakfast, he noticed Mark was gone. Half hoping he was still there, he looked out the front window wishing to catch him. Jonny...or was it Rick, he just didn't know. "Mark seemed to be the only one that seem....to be helpful?" Jonny thought to himself. Even that thought was not familiar to him. Jonny thanked the nice waitress and went out to look for Mark. As he heard the bell on the door ring again behind him, he ran to the street looking for that one thing that seemed to point him in the right direction. But he was gone. Jonny walked up the street some again trying to catch a glimpse but nothing, that's when he saw a woman sitting at the bus stop wearing a raincoat. Was it Marylou? Jonny walked over quickly "Marylou is that you?" The woman turned to him slightly startled. "No, you must have mistaken me for someone else." The small glimmer of hope Jonny had in seeing someone who might know whats going on was dashed in a second. Jonny was affraid he was going to go insane. Nothing was making sense. He didn't know where he was, or WHO he was for that matter. He sat down in the shade on a planter outside a gift shop, his head began to throb again. All he wanted to do was go home, but he couldn't quite remember where home was. He knew his name was Jonny, or at least it was recently. He knew these were his clothes, his shoes and his wrist watch. He got it for his birthday, from... someone? Who was it? Mom? Dad? His brother Tommy? Or was his name Teddy? "Oh my God I can hardly remember their faces" He burried his head in his hands. He had no money, and it was 100 degrees out, if not more. The coffee at breakfast was quickly losing it's hydrating qualities as he sat sweating bullets in the heat.How much longer would it be until the sun went behind the buildings and brought some relief? Jonny looked down at his watch, it was only 11:15 am, the day hadn't even reached its hottest point. Looking at his watch again, something was very wrong. The date, it wasnt 2008 like it was yesterday, it was 2018! Maybe the freak storm messed up his watch in all that rain and electricity in the air... surely he couldn't have lost 10 years in just moments. He got up and ran into the gift shop, startling the old woman who was dusting the crystal nic-nacks. "Can I help you sir?" the old woman asked, looking him up and down through thick rounded frame glasses. "I need a news paper, do you sell newspapers?" Jonny didnt want to seem as crazy as he felt by asking the woman what year it was but she pointed over to the magazine rack and Jonny went in that direction. He saw dozens of magazines with pictures of celebrities he's never seen before, some he had, who were obviously aged. Grabbing a Centerville Post, he looked quickly for the date and it confirmed his fear. It was July 22, 2018.

Jonny walked out of the store dazed, and quite confused as to what exactly was going on. His mind was spinning with all the details of the last few days. “What exactly happened?” kept racing through his mind. He remembers riding down the road towards his house in Copper Crossing…he thought that was right anyway. He ended stopping about a mile away from the Miller farm when he found Marylou. That’s when it all got very strange, he thinks….”or was it when they found that cow?” “YES!” Jonny said out loud then covered his mouth fast so no one would stare. He kept walking down the sidewalk of Main street thinking about that cow. “It had those eyes and that…that…THING on its ass!” Jonny felt his first clear thought in over a day. It had to have been that hunk of…. “What was it???” Jonny had no clue. But he knew THAT was the answer to everything. As he walked and paced and thought things though, he found himself walking all the way to Smith’s Feed & Grain store. He looked up and there was a sign on the window saying “Help Wanted”. Jonny opened the glass door. RING… RING, announced his entrance. “What was it with all these damn bells on the doors?” he thought to himself. He walked up to a sales person and asked about the help wanted sign in the window. The man pointed out the owner, Mr. Smith, to Jonny and before you knew it he was hired.

“When can you start?” Mr. Smith asked. Jonny looked at him kind of puzzled, “Right now would be great”. “Fantastic welcome to the family”, smiling back at Jonny and shaking his hand. “Get your apron over there and head out back to help load up the trucks with feed” pointing out the wall with all the aprons hanging from hooks. Jonny slid on the apron over his head and headed to the loading dock. A tall man of about six feet stood at the end of the dock picking up fifty pound bags of live stock feed and slamming them on the back of old pickup trucks. Jonny saw the name “Ken” plainly stitched into his apron. As sweat beaded up and rolled down Ken’s face, he barely looking at Jonny “Each truck that pulls up will hand you an order slip and you put the bags on their truck” He kept working as he barked out the orders to Jonny.

Jonny's first order was for 1 ton of feed. He quickly did the math in his head as to how many 50 lbs bags that was and went into the loading shed and flopped 40 heavy
bags onto a large flat hand cart. Already his shoulder's ached and his back was stiff but he was quite surprised how strong his body was. He was 25 years old, as of yesterday
anyway, today however, he might be 35. He wondered "where" the time went. How was his family and where were they? What was he doing all that time? How did he acquire this tattoo and why? He chuckled quietly to himself as the Jimmy Buffet lyrics came to mind "I dont know the reason, I stayed here all season.. nothing to show but this brand new tattoo..."
And pushed the cart out to Mr Morgan's truck.
Jonny must have loaded 10 tons of grain and feed into the various customers trucks that day. He was genuinely exhausted and in dire need of a bath. Payday wasn't until Friday and this was Monday but fortunately he made $100 in tips. This would buy him dinner, a hotel room and a full fresh pack of smokes. He walked to the Centerville Motor Lodge which was about a mile outside of town. Stopped by the small convenience store and got a big roast beef sandwich on an italian roll, smothered in swiss cheese and mayo. Again a combo that felt natural to ask for but sounded foreign to his ears. A half gallon of iced tea and a bag of his favorite, both now and in his past life, original flavored Doritos. He rented a room for 2 nights, at $40 per night for a single room. Hopefully tips would be a regular thing and he would have a place to stay for a while. Jonny opened his sandwich from the tightly wrapped deli paper and devoured it before he could taste it. Munched the chips and the familiar flavor brought back a memory of watching The Atlanta Falcons play on TV with his father and brother. He smiled as the memory was vivid enough to know it was indeed his own. After lighting a Parliament, he started to run water for his bath.

The door swung open from the bathroom, bellowing steam from the now done bath. Jonny walked out with just a towel wrapped around his waist and beads of water dripping down his chest. He walked over to the bed side table and picked up the hard pack of Parlaments he now seems to need one every half hour of. Sliding one out of the pack and putting it in the mouth, he lit it and took a long drag in, letting it out slowly. He laid down on his bed and turned on the TV. Jonny clicked though the stations, “click, click, click”, you could hear as he cycled though all the station a million times looking for something good to watch. On his 1 million 500^th times through he stopped on one of those sci fi stations, and he saw this woman standing in her chicken coop. He sat straight up in bed, and squinted his eyes. “I came out to feed that them chickens, and before you could say Jimmy crack corn, the thunder rained down on me like GOD himself was coming to get me.” Jonny’s mouth dropped as he recognized the story, but the woman, was not the same. Marylou was a woman about 30 years old, this woman had to be in her 50s. He pulled himself to the end of the bed, holding onto the towel rapped loosely around his waist. He was now real close to the screen of the TV, and he could see the woman’s eyes. He remembered Maylou’s eyes from the ride they took a few days ago together. Or what seemed like a few days ago, but this woman obviously had aged about 20 years almost overnight. Jonny pulled away from the television and put his head in his hands. If Jonny lost 10 years, and Marylou looked 20 years older, what did that mean? He went ahead in time and she went back? Is that even possible? Jonny started to chuckle at himself and decided he might try buying a bottle of Jack along with his other provisions tomorrow after work. Because everyone KNOWS that is impossible. Yeah, a Jack and coke would fix him right up he thought to himself as he turned off the TV and climbed into bed.

Hello all, so I am going to start out this year with a bang and get right to it. If any of you know Oona, you know she is a fashion crazy woman. Rich (Oona's bf) and DC (Oona's sl bro) make fun of her for her fetishes, hair & shoes are just a few lol. So I will give you a list of the hot items for this month.

I found that in sl, every month there is the MUST HAVES for men and women and furry alike. We all went through the boots craze of 2007 and the Neko phase of 2008 and the fluffy hair then the spiked hair...OMG so many things us vetrine's of sl have been through. Can make an avvy NUTS!! so I think between me and my gurl Fifi we can keep you dressed right and keep ya looking good at ALLLL times. We will tell you whats hot and where you can get it. There are so many cool things out there now, I hope I can keep you all updated.

So lets start this thing off right......

Lets talk scripts. As I have been shopping the last few weeks I have seen lots of cool scripts being put into shoes, belts and Jewelry. They let you resize your items and change the textures. THEY ARE AMAZING! So here are my personal faves to date.....

1) **BLITZED** Belts that resize with a touch of a menu & chat for different textures. (choose from 9 textures) This thing is AMAZING for only 200L. (BLITZED (86, 170, 68) This is their main store.

2) M.R.M *universe* Series Bracelet...These bracelets you touch to change the texture. You can choose from 6 textures all beautiful. The other great thing is you receive in your box three sizes to get the best fit possible. (Baines (32, 120, 21)

3) SOREAL Sneakers...when you click on them you choose your size and color you want. the ones I purchase has three different colors. But I do believe you can put some that have up to nine colors. Nice casual sneakers.

Its been since August since I wrote down a few things for you. As most of you have at some point or another, I took a lil hiatus from sl. NO NO!! I did not leave totally lol, just didn't do much but sit on my beach and talk to all my Supah Special Peeps. So now that I am back *cracks nuckles* I am ready to share my thoughts with you again about the goings on in sl. I am going to call on my Supah Special Peeps from time to time to help me out. You may see some blog entries again from my bf Rich *wink wink @ Rich* but I am going to call on my fellow sl shopper Fifi to help me out with the fashion tips I am going to begin offering. So Oona has taken on a new venture here in sl. Her, Rich (Oona's Bf) and DC (Oona's sl bro) have bought a sim. A few months back they all bought a 1/4 sim and started up Mojo Reef Resort and put up condos and all have been filled almost every month from the get go. So when the entire sim went for sale, they snatched it up and created Mojo Reef Estates. So now they not only have Condos on the beach they have parcels for rent. The Truth About Second Life

I've been reading a lot of articles lately about this "Metaworld" called Second Life. For about a year or so, there has been a big buzz about it, mainly what you can do there, if it is a game or not, how you can make a real life living though you’re Second Life and so-on. I have been a 'resident' of Second Life for over a year now and I would like to speak the TRUTH about it to the best of my abilities.

What is Second Life?

It's an interactive 3D chat site where you can customize your avatar in fairly realistic
detail.

Can you make real life money there?

Yes and no....you CAN make a little bit but when 500 Lindens (in world dollars) is equal
to about $1 in US currency, it's very hard to make any profit at all without first spending
BIG real world bucks to do so.

Haven't people made some pretty big bucks there?

Yes, but very few and only those who got into the metaworld very early on. One of the
most common ways to make money is to buy and sell land. Early on this could be done
easier than it can be now. Before, you could buy a piece of land from $100- $2000 USD
depending on the size of the sim, you would own it and can do pretty much whatever you

want with it. Build it up for yourself or divide it into property to sell or rent out to other residents. You stood to make a decent profit off of that but now, you need to pay a tier fee (like property tax) to the Lindens ( the fictitious name of those who own and operate the metaworld) that can cost a

pretty painful real world penny. This picture above is my Avatar (which we will refer to as my av... cute aint he? ;) ) this beach is very small in comparison to other sim property but it costs me and two of my friends about $15 USD per month each to "own". Will we make any money off of it? No, not likely. We only bought it just so we could design a place to be to our own liking. Another way people have made money in the past was to build and create objects everyone wants/needs. The dude who created the scripted Xcite Penis makes a killing :\ but now, there's hundreds if not thousands of virtual penises to be had and many are free, no more money in that. I think Second Life has come close to its limit on things that the residents need, that CAN possibly exist there.

I've read in computer magazines and webnews that big real world companies invested in owning businesses

In Second Life. Is this true?

Well I can honestly say, I don't know because I've never seen the businesses. There are thousands of inworld businesses, malls, night clubs etc but I have yet to see one owned or operated by a big real world company. I did read an article recently about IBM and Coca Cola investing hundreds of thousands of dollars on sim land builders, designers, and employees to start virtual businesses there and then soon folded because no one visits their sims nor buys their products from them. I mean do you REALLY need a coke in a simulated world? Who really cares if your simulated can of coke looks like the real thing?( pardon the pun) They are easy enough to make yourself that you would be a fool to purchase one.

With 4 million residents, isn't it a good place to advertise at least?

Hehehehe, sorry but the 4 million number makes me laugh. There is NOT 4 million residents, I doubt highly that there is even close to 1 million and 1/3 of accounts held, are alternate accounts. You can have more than one account so 1/3 of the population is really 1 person with more than one account. Some places have high traffic but most do not. The most highly traveled places are usually those with "camping" which is a way to make a small amount of money over time. You sit in a chair, or dance on a dance pad, or other camping tool and make on average about $2L (2 inworld dollars) every 10 or 15 mins. Yes, very boring and it would take you roughly 2 days sitting and doing nothing to make the equivalent of $1 USD but, it’s so hard to make money there that people do this. Any other time there is a good population is usually a mall. Hell, even in sim world we love to shop but when the majority of what you can buy is less than $500L the shop owners don’t bring in the income either, especially when considering they have to pay rent and tier fee also. Most of the time, you find a spot where you like to sit and talk to your friends and that’s where you live most of your Second Life.

Isn't there explicate sex on the mature sims?

Hehehehe well its retarded looking sex but yes.... and not only on mature sims. Seems the Linden gods don't pay too much mind to what goes on on the sims. Sim sex, to me is ridiculous. I don't engage in it and proudly flaunt my virtual virginity (fixes halo). Sex is 'performed' on pose balls which you "sit' on and it animates your av alone or with a partner (or partners if the case may be) They're almost everywhere but I do find them easily avoidable. Some residents live for it, I can’t possibly be bothered with it. Some common employment in Second Life is to be an escort or exotic dancer....

Escorting, which is really simulated prostitution is totally laughable. If you need fake sex enough to pay someone for it you have a serious problem. Exotic dancing on the other hand is in just about every night club and party that no one pays any attention to it anymore. Half naked AVs aren’t a huge turn on in my opinion.

Isn't your Second Life supposed to be only limited to your imagination as it is boasted on the website?

It is only limited to your own imagination, federal state and govt law, things the Lindens WANT you to do and things that are possible in the grid itself. Such as, my av has long hair, I would LOVE for his hair to move more freely and not jab through his body when his head moves, but alas..... to make that possible would involve changing the entire format that Second Life is run on.

Over the last several months, Second Life has been hit with a LOT of legal issues. We used to be able to gamble, we cant now. Banks have closed (and most taking all the money residents set aside in said banks with them) because of tax laws, someone might be hiding money in Second Life *gasp*. Child pornography used to run rampant there, childlike Av approaching you for sex which they couldn't have gotten rid of soon enough for me!!! It isn’t completely GONE but its no longer out in the open and you can report childlike AVs to Lindens because they are supposedly outlawed now. And my theory isn’t that Lindens made these activities illegal because it’s DISGUSTING but because once the big companies saw them, they pulled out. Do you think Nike wants to be associated with simulated child sex? Neither does the Swiss Embassy which was rumored to have wanted to hold meetings there.

In a nut shell, there are more limits there than in real life.... some good limits, some bad.

MSN recently posted an article about charitable organizations in Second Life, isn't that a good thing?

Yes it is, I don't scoff at charity.... BUT when the average Second Life resident has $25 USD or less in their account, Id say the effort would be better spent and more likely to go to the real charity if it was done in real life. I’m sure there are honest people holding the charities in Second life but, lets face it, it’s MUCH easier to lie about who you are there than in the real world.

What are some common problems you face in Second Life?

Wow where to begin!!! I'd say all residents agree the lag is TERRIBLE. Sometimes you can’t even move and then you crash. Sims only hold so many prims (Primitives = pieces or objects) so the more 'things' or people there are on any sim, the worse the lag is. But you can even be lagged down in a vacant lot simply because they servers cant handle the volume of prims the whole metaworld is holding ... and trust me, its many more objects than it is people....

Chat lag has gotten horrible in the past few months... type something and it appears 2 mins later and usually out of the order you typed it in. Lack of prim availability is another issue... even on our little island, we can’t get it fully decorated because we can only set so many pieces down. Newbies or Noobs... the name given to people who have just gotten there... most are under the belief that things are the way they say in the articles. They find you, most of the time naked with their new sim penis they got in the freebie box of the first store they visited... usually they ask you for a job, which you of course cant offer them, then they flat out ask for money.... if you cant give them that, then they ask you for sex... the 3 things that made them want to come in the first place :\

Not all noobs will ask for sex and not all are naked but just about ALL of them ask for a job or how to make money. Another issue is water... there is water ALL over Second Life yet you cant swim without purchasing a HUD (heads up display) or animation override that will allow you to swim... and of course cause you more lag when you wear them ;) what else... lets see... missing inventory... you can buy things that you never actually get or that suddenly disappear. Griefers!! Usually bored teenagers who lie and say they're over 18, create an account and then throw prims down on a sim, usually vulgar ones, in hopes to get the thrill of crashing the sim itself, which of course logs you out of Second Life and you might have to wait to get back in. Crashing on teleport is something new for me.... you travel in SL via teleport if where you’re going is too far to walk or fly to. Lately every time I try to move to another sim I'll crash. These are the kinds of things that big companies can’t tolerate for any business meetings they may have planned to hold there.... they'd be better off in a Yahoo conference.

Wow! Is there anything good about SL?

Sure there is or I wouldn't still be there :) there is fun to be had, I’ve recently learned building and that’s pretty fun. Sometimes there is a good party with a good DJ and you hang out with your friends while your AV’s dance. Mostly I like playing Zyngo, or sitting on the beach with my friends chatting. I've resolved to the notion that no, I wont make a profit there, but I don’t mind spending a few $ a month to pretend my life is more exciting than it really is. There is a real feeling of contentment when my AV looks like he's enjoying himself. It's really just a type of escape from reality so when you understand this, then you can enjoy yourself there. You will be one miserable person in real life if you only go there with the hopes of making profit. So, come, meet people, chat, fly around, have fun... just don’t be naked and beg for money or sex... that’s SOOOOO not cool!!

CHANGES FOR OONA

So as I said in my last entry things have been changing on Oona’s land. But not only that, things have been changing for Oona. She has taken on a new roll in sl…the roll of promoter. Now, she kind of fell into that roll. The club was gone and the rentals were gone and the shop was gone and OH YEAH, her partners for Yomigaeri were gone from sl. So Oona started promoting herself in a way. Anytime she was going to a party or working at a club, she told people in her group that she was at such and such place. She had no idea if people would go or not, but hey it was worth a try. And you know what? Where Oona started to go, others went. It was kind of cool. And in the process of all this, she started meeting club owners. And before you knew it, these club owners wanted her to promote their clubs. So like I said, she fell into it. Well when you start having connections in the club world, you start having connections with DJs, dancers, hostesses, pretty much anything that goes with a club, Oona became involved with. Before you knew it, she had a company and a huge following. She now is a promoter and staffs clubs. And she LOVES it. Some may say she is a socialite of sl..call it what you will. But the number one thing that she wanted to do was to HAVE FUN!!!. And that she is. So yes, she still has land, and yes the set up of the land changes almost every day. But now you can find the head quorters of Woolf Promotions on the grounds of Oona’s land. So please if you are a club owner, or just a club goer, please feel free to stop in or IM her. Wow time flies when you’re having fun! Sorry I have not updated my blog until now…things got a little crazy for Oona. About two month ago she found a parcel of land next to where the club was for super super cheep. So she bought it on the spot. That same day her friend Jade, who owned a small parcel across the way, was selling hers for SUPER SUPER cheep. So Oona pulled the trigger on that parcel also now owning two parcels within 24 hours. OMG!! Oona began to say to herself. SELF..How the heck am I going to pay all that tier…what should I sell…OK think. So Oona and her old partners decided to pull down the club and put up rentals. On the smaller parcel Oona put up a shop and a great meditation garden for all to enjoy. OK, now to get the houses rented and start driving traffic into the shop. Wow…how the heck to get people to come to my land and give me money? OK I need to get higher in the search results. To do that I need to get more traffic to my land…LETS HAVE A HUGE PARTY!!! Excellent!! So I got a pool from a friend and threw a pool party. Its was successful and people came and had a blast. BUT..as you know in sl all things change really really fast. And to keep up with demand you need to keep up with things. So Oona has made some changes as of late. Oona ALWAYS keeps up with the times...oh the lil trend setter she is. Oona Making Friends For Life

So this week has been a hard week on Oona for fiends. She had her first sl death. One of Oona’s very closest fiends in all of sl..decided to leave sl. It’s been tough and she has been morning her loss. He left a Will…before you ask…he left nothing to Oona. *Tears, Tears, Tears*…but she will get over it..she always does. But he did leave their mutual friend/brother the club and the land on it. So Oona and her sl brother and co-owner of the Yomigaeri Warehouse Club will attempt to keep it going. So the loss of her best friend and sl bf came as a HUGE smack in the face…so Oona decided to start taking pictures of her good friends and start posting them on her blog. There will be no names attached, but you can see that Oona’s friends are all special and all mean something to her. They are VERY,VERY important and will stay in her heart forever. So keep your eyes to the blog and maybe someday you will see your own pic. here. LOVE TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND OONA’S for they are both of ours.

She enjoys there company and ALWAYS has a blast. But..as all good things, Club Kampai needed to close their doors. It was sad and everyone was disappointed. However, the Manager and his RL wife decided to set up shop and build their own club. Oona was very excited for this and was hoping to help in any way. About a week ago while hanging with her friends, as she made sex beds in the sky, two of the boys brought up their plan to open a new club. They decided to take off and look for land. Oona tagged along to help out. Within an hour they had found the perfect place and they had made a deal with the owners. Within a few hours later Oona was asked to be the Event Manager and she was an integral part of making Club Yomigaeri open without a hitch. Oona was so happy for her friends. She knew how much they wanted to own their own club, and now their dreams had come true. So if nothing goes wrong, Club Yomigaeri will open in about a weeks.(End of August, beginning of September 2007) It will be your typical club with fantastic music, events, hot DJs, sexy dancers and on top of it all their will be a role playing/tournament portions also. The two male owners are into SL role playing and weapons, so this will be a major part of the club. From what Oona understands, huge money prizes will be awarded to the winners. Oona Gets a Job

So a few months ago Oona met a sex bed maker. It was a random….as most meetings in SL are. He was a really cool guy and they hit it off right off the bat. Oona expressed that she was hoping to do something in SL that was not in the sex industry. He came up with some great ideas, but nothing that interested Oona. So about a week ago, Oona IMed him just to say hi. They began talking and she told him how she was getting good with the build tool. He said he was looking for someone to make beds for him to add his scripts too. “Hmmm, sounds interesting” Oona thought. So she said she would try and they could meet up later. So off to the sandbox to create a few beds Oona went. As Oona was standing creating what she thought was a good bed, many people came to watch. All of them knew she was making a bed and many wanted to test it out with Oona. *wink* “No, No, to busy” she would say. The ladies thought they were beautiful and the men didn’t really care what it looked like as long as they could test it out with Oona. Funny how SL is so like RL sometimes. Anyway, Oona created two beds to show her friend.

Once at home She rezed one to put in her new bedroom at her new home. She shot off an IM to her friend to come check it out. He TPed into her bedroom to check things out. He seemed happy and said she was on the right track. They struck up a commission deal and the terms were set. EXCELLENT! Oona had a job! Now all she had to do was make sure they sold.

So two month into life Oona was off and running. A job making beds, a new home, everything she wanted to get out of this crazy life. So if you are in the market for a new sex bed, go check them out. Tell them Oona sent you!

Oona Rents a Condo then a House

So Oona has been on the look out for a place to call home. She was not sure what she wanted. Yacht, House, Condo…not really sure but she knew she wanted something. So she started doing research. She roped in her good friend who knew something about buying/renting homes. He gave some wonderful advise and really set Oona in the right direction. So one day Oona got an intreaging message from the Hurricane Club Owners about Condos for rent. Off she went to check them out. On the beach, great views, big space and Ok prim allowance. Oona pounced on a great one for not too much money. Her First place to call home. It was nice and did the job for a few days, but she realized there was just too much space for almost no Prims. So she knew that it was not going to last for long. Then about a week later Oona got another message from the Hurricane Club owners. They were letting all the VIPs know that they had houses with a large Prim allowance. Oona was off to check them out. She arrived and she was the first person to arrive. Oh they were beautiful. On the beach, corner lot, two floors, PERFECT! So Oona asked if she could get her remaining money back from the condo and put it towards the new house. “SURE!” Said the owner. So it was a deal, Oona would have a perfect home in SL. Exactly what I would want in RL if I was single and looking for a place. So they still have some available. I hope you would make a good neighbor…Go check it out and we can have a block party when you move in. “Woot!”

Oona was looking for something to do one fine day and she was hoping for something different. She was tiered of dancing and wanted to get away. It just so happened that a good friend of Oona’s had bought a helicopter. He sent her a message asking if she wanted to go for a ride. Excellent! A new adventure, something Oona LOVES. So off she went to meet him at his new toy. It looked just like a two-seater in RL and she hopped in. Off they went up, up, up. Oona had not been this high in SL and was loving every minute. He asked if Oona wanted to try flying it and she replied with a strong NO THANK YOU! They continued flying about and began seeing homes and flying boats. What a beautiful place. Oona thought it might be fun to live in the sky. He just happened to be looking for a place to buy and keep his new helicopter. We landed on what Oona thought was someone’s home, but he seemed so confident that it was not, that she kept her mouth shut. It was a beautiful stone building with a nice roof to land on. It had an airplane on top and Celtic music playing. It was heaven. At that moment a lovely woman popped up to the roof and asked if she could help us. OH NO, I was right, it was someone’s home. Thank goodness she was very, very nice and helpful all at the same time. They chatted and she passed on some information about the homes and her landlord. Oona was still on cloud nine, latterly, and wanted more. He invited her on a hot air balloon ride. REALLY? You can go on a hot air balloon ride? Oona was ready for more adventures. They teleported to a remote island and there it was, a beautiful balloon. They sat down on the cushy chairs and up they went. The sun was setting and everything was glowing a bright orange red. Oona thought that this might be a nice ride with a romantic friend. She landmarked it for a later date. The balloon kept going up and down and closer to the land, then came a waterfall. Oh Oona sighed. She could hear birds chirping and the rushing water of the water cascading over the rocks. She hated to leave but it was time. She thanked her friend for such a wonderful trip. It was time to meet another friend that she had promised to go dancing with. He was very grateful to have shared such a fun adventure with Oona and hoped they could do it again soon. Oona said anytime and was off.

So for all you newbie’s and non-noobs alike, go out and take an adventure once in a while. Second life has so much to offer over and above the usual. Remember, SL is a place to do things you can’t always do in RL. ENJOY!

Ok, so I have discovered that in SL the time means everything. If you have time to get on in the middle of the day, you will find different parties than in the evening. OK, makes sense. Well, here is Oona’s picks of the day for places to go at different times. This is all in Second Life Time (SLT).

1) 6:30am - Nude Beach, Romantica (75, 132, 21) – Great place to go and meet people. There is camping there, so you can make some cash. Good shops.

2) 7:00am – Playboy, Playboy (132,107,38) – great for sitting in the sun, and meeting intelligent nice people.

3) Club Kampai - Escanes (95, 226, 31) Open noon and closes at midnight. The party is always hot, go check it out and bring your friends! Beautiful dancers and GREAT music.

4) 1:30pm - Ambrosia, Sabra (96, 233, 251) - great party every day. Good music, GREAT people and just a blast in general. Oona has made many long term friendships there.

5) Tuesdays at 6:00pm Playboy, Playboy (132, 107, 38) in the lounge. GREAT party! Beautiful women and men to dance with and have fun!

6) 9:00pm - Hurricane Club & Casino - Devoted 71, 213, 22 (Mature) Great place to go dancing and there is camping there.

Yes, Oona was a dancer…for all of an hour. Oona decided to go to one of her favorite clubs, Club Kampai. It’s a newer club that came onto the SL scene about a month to two

ago. A friend told her about it and that it had great dancing music. So she checked it out one night and she had a blast. Its one of those clubs that plays hip hop/rap style music. They play other things, but that mostly. Oona just loves to dance so it’s perfect for her. She discovered fast that is was the type of place to go to have a little flirt on the dance floor, be sexy and if you want, watch a few beautiful dancers all at the same time. So, one evening she decided to take off and check out what was going on at Kampai. She walked onto the dance floor and started dancing. The manager was there with a few other people. Everyone is SO inviting there and always ready to welcome everyone. I asked the manager how he was doing today. He replied with a sad story of his RL experience for the day and how his body was aching and such things. Oona stepped right up on that one. “Oh, so sorry to here that, well you’re looking good now baby!” He liked that and the banter started from there. He is an excellent flirt and I’m sure that is intentional to keep the ladies coming back, but Oona just went right along with it. I’m sure you have heard me say this before; Oona is sassy and a wild child at hart. She loves a good flirt session. So the purring and the meow gestures started, then he found Oona’s spanker…it was a good old time. All in good fun! By the end of the evening, he had offered friendship and was asking if I ever..Oona ever had thought about dancing. Why yes she had. In the very beginning when I was looking for a way to make some cash, I thought that might be good. Before I knew it I was having my first SL interview and they took me on that day as a dancer. They showed me the pole and how to use it and told me about talking to the customers, bla, bla, bla. I knew that I was going to be a pro, I had the talking down pat and the rest was just animation. So I stayed for about an hour with the manager and his wife. They showed me the ropes and then I was done. Nothing to it, right? Well, not that easy. I left to meet a good friend and told him about my new job. He was not too happy. He reminded me that Oona was a lady and she deserved a better job. “Did I want to give her a bad name at such a young age?” he explained to me. Hmmmmm, he got me thinking. He also reminded me that I was going to be going down a path of certain jobs that I might not like. I thought about it, he was right; I wanted something a little different for Oona. Not that dancers are bad people and their jobs are bad. I think they are all wonderful and I have no problem with what they are doing. Who knows, maybe some day you will see Oona on a pole, right now it’s not for her. I think maybe I would like to own a shop. Maybe she could get a hostess job, who knows. I’m still searching for Oona. She has MAD skills talking to people, and she attracts a lot of attention. So if you know anything she can do that does not involve having sex or dancing nude, let me know.

Meeting of the Minds

It was about a week later that I met a very nice person on Playboy Island. He and I discussed SL and all its wonders that it had to hold. He told me that he was looking into why islands were so sticky. And for those none, web tech savvy people, sticky means keeping people in one place. So why do people stay on an island, and continue to come back? Well I had been wondering about things like that since I stepped into SL. I told him that I had been doing my own research project and that I would be happy to let him know my findings to date. We all are looking for something here in SL. It may be a good time, someone to talk to, romance, flat out Sex, or start a business. I was looking at my experience at this point as a little experiment. What makes an Avatar attractive to other Avatars? Well, it could be many different things. Before Playboy, I had met many people and they all were nice, but no one had asked to be on Oona’s friend list. That was fine with me up to this point. But Oona was looking for some friends to call her own. SL can be lonely if you have no one to send IMs to or go dancing with. But now that Oona had a new tag over hear head..that seem to intrigue people..men mostly. So I did a little experiment with this. Some time I would wear the Playboy VIP and sometimes I would wear the Blarney Stoned label. And the difference was amazing. No one even wanted to talk to Oona when she had her Blarney Stoned tag on but when she had the Playboy VIP on, oh the IMs came flying in. She was Ms. popular. The IMs were not rude, just all men and I could tell what they were thinking. Oona often got and still gets, “you are so beautiful”. She never got that with her Blarney Stoned tag. Oh, the other thing I found was the men that IMed Oona, were intelligent, in their 30s and 40s and were gentlemen. I think If I had a different tag on, I would get young unintelligent men looking for one thing only, sex. So I think my findings are that the tag your Av wears attracts certain kind of people. Its not rocket science. We are till human under this animation we call an Avatar. If we all wore a tag in RL that said, my name is an I am into XYZ we would attracted like people. Every one is afraid of rejection, the tags help soften the blow. So I have put on here my finding for all to see. This is as of 7/6/07. Findings as of 7/6/07:
I think the biggest thing that keeps an Avatar on one island is interests. I know this sounds silly and remedial, but this is in simplest terms. People come to SL to find a home. They want to meet people with the same interests and do activities that are around that. I think that people are looking for a way to be themselves without the stigma of what they look like RL. They want people to go straight to their ideas and thoughts, what ever they may be. Most Avatars that I bump into are looking for someone to talk to. Yes, you find some that want more. I have been doing an experiment with the “groups” titles people wear. I think that these are huge. It’s like a name tag in RL that says…”Hello my name is and I love XY&Z, come talk to me”. If I wear my Playboy tag, I get one kind of Male Avatar. I get more IMs etc…lol. But if I wear my Blarney Stoned tag, people ask me if I am from Ireland and try to speak Gaelic with me. It’s not really what Oona looks like, Ok well maybe it is a little, it’s what is over her head that people are paying attention to most. So I have no idea if you already know all this or if this even helps you. But it was great meeting you and I hope to talk more with you about this subject. Have a great day!

I had read that Playboy was coming to SL. Oona was about two weeks old and she was ready to go past the boundaries of Dublin and see what all was out there. She was beautiful, enjoyed talking to other Avatars, and was ready to see what the world had to hold. She was very comfortable in her skin and she had killer clothes to go with it. So she popped on her favorite little summer outfit and headed over to the Playboy Island. It was not what she expected but it was beautiful. They had done a fantastic job. The music was sexy jazz and everything was super sleek. Oona walked around and checked things out. First she went over to the Jazz club, not many people around she decided to pop onto the animated piano. She sat for a wile, but decided to move on. Up to the lounge she went. She settled onto a bed and started to watch a film they had set up. She sat for a long wile. Then a young man walked up…”Hello Oona” She looked over to see a very hansom man with nice looking clothing on. “Hello” The chatting began. He asked if he could set down on the big circle bed with her. Oona thought he was polite and she was feeling a little frisky tonight. “Please do” She relied. He sat down and asked if Oona had been here before and how long I had been on second life, yada, yada, yada. Then the conversation turned a little down the road of hot and heavy. He had told me that he just had started a job at the local dance club and they had bought him skins and clothing. He was looking smoking hot. Oona was very happy that he was sitting with her. He asked if my skin had all the right parts. “Why?” “Oona Babenco *winks*” He thought Oona was cute…”well I am thinking that your breasts must be beautiful under that Awesome top” I sighed and thought…here we go. “Why thank you.” Oona said back. He went on to tell Oona that he had just started SL that day and got a job so he could buy a Penis for his Av. OK! Oona new that there was no turning back. I had to make some decisions. Do I continue this conversation? Move on? Tell him my personal story? A ton to think about in just a few seconds. I thought to myself, I can have a silly conversation with a young man. I am an adult. “Why do you think you need that?” “Oona Babenco winks again” He laughed and we talked for the rest of the evening. It gave Oona a chance to really get a feel for having a sexy conversation without going to a Free Sex area. He was a cute 23 year old looking to have fun in SL. He asked many times to see Oona’s breasts and she kept saying that she was not that easy. I think it was turning him on a little to play hard to get. Oona asked if he had a girlfriend and did she mind. He told Oona that he did and she knew that this was just a “Game”. A game I thought, this was a little different than any game I had ever played before. You make SL what ever you want it to be. If you want it to be a game, great, go to an area where others feel like that too. Make sure that the other people around you feel the same way. There is something for everyone in SL. But always remember, behind the avatar is a real person with a real brain, having real feelings. You can make great friends from all over the world. But those people have feelings and experiences that you need to keep in mind. Always be honest with people, but don’t tell them to much about your RL. There are a TON of crazy people in the world, and you still need to protect yourself. Oh yes, by the end of the evening, I was a Playboy VIP. I had no idea how this one small thing, would change Oona’s life.

Now that Oona had some cash, we decided that it was time to buy some hair and a skin that was more than 1L$. I think Oona was about a week old and already felt like she was a year old. I plugged in the name of the shop into the search and off I went. I was off to find Ms. Oona’s identity. I walked around for a little bit. It was a small town with Latin music playing. I’m sure you are saying right now, ”Ok what island? That is for me to know and you to find out. I love my skin in part because I have not seen another person with it. Oona is not a cookie cutter Avatar anymore. So after walking around a bit I walked into the store that was going to change Oona’s life. I was so excited, my heart was pounding…there it was, the one. I had decided to pick a skin tone that was close to my own…pail pink. I loved that she had a few freckles around her face…like me and beautiful lips, like me, lol. Oh it was perfect! Then I had to choose what make-up I wanted for her. She was not a flashy Avatar, she was beautiful in a natural way. So I chose soft tones. PERFECT! I could not hit the buy button fast enough. Ohhh, she is beautiful. I fooled with the slide rules some to change her shape. I made her breasts a little bigger and perkier. I also made her smile, just a little. The original skin frowned just a little too much. Once again, she was a “Happy” wild child. So now that I had the perfect skin, I was off to get the right hair styles. I wanted some pony-tails for the crazy days, and straight hair for the more sophisticated days. I thought, Well I like blond for the fun and black for the sophisticated. I kind of went for the naughty school girl for the fun look. I was starting to get a feel for how Oona was going to be. She was sexy, fun-loving, little frisky at times, but could hold a conversation with the most intelligent of people. She was interested in maybe finding a man, but not sure at this point. She was just looking to have a good time. I know she loved to dance and listen to good music. So now that she was perfect, at this moment, I had yet to know how she would still evolve day to day, I was ready to go off and explore. Oona enjoyed going to Dublin and dance at the Blarney stone and meet friends. She also discovered Fibber Magees (http://www.dublinsl.com/social.php). Once you get to be part of a group, you begin getting notices that tell you about events going on. So when I saw that a dance party was going on…Oona was in! Oona walked in and found a spot on the dance floor. She started grooving and listening to the banter of the other Avatars. It was obvious that she was among a group of friends. Everyone was having a great time. Then the spanking began…you say “Spanking?” Yes, it’s a gesture that you attach to your avatar that allows someone to spank you. Everyone around you knows who spanked who, you can even spank yourself. So I made a comment and all of a sudden, the hostess passed me the spanker. WOW, excellent, I attached it and started spankin. Oona was getting more and more sassy, just how I envisioned her. I’m a little sassy at hart, so I thought Ms. Oona would be too. Anyway, the night was great, the DJ was excellent and Oona had a BLAST. It was about 11pm my time and I decided it was time to get off for the night. Tomorrow was another day! It was official, I was HOOKED to this SL.

I entered the wonderful world of Second life as most Avatars, a lump of clay that was popped out of a cookie cutter. Ms. Oona Babenco was born on May 31, 2007. She had the long brown hair, long sleeve T-shirt and Jeans. Oh yes, the flip flops….those beautiful flip flops. Gotta-luv-um!!! She walked into the tutorial having no clue as to what this virtual world was all about, but willing to learn. I went through with ease, but not without the infamous bumping by the male Newbie….”Hey Baby”. Oh why are men so immature? Anyway, I swiftly went to Help Island….So much to see and learn.

I started Second Life hoping to start a business or maybe get away from the real life monotony I had been battling with for months now. I had no idea that I was about to run into a million and one other Avatars with the same ideas of “getting away”. I went straight to the build tool. Very easy to learn I thought. This could be something…. But before I could really get going on the “building thing”, I had to do something with my Avatar. Oona was just not what I envisioned….she was my wild side waiting to come out but she didn’t really look like that. She was ready to let loose on this crazy world…but not looking like she was. So I started fooling around with the appearance tool. New pants, new shirt…Oh sexy now, lol. Shorter & lighter hair, some new high heal shoes. WOW, a new woman….I laugh now because I was such the newbie, no clue and the hope for having fun and meeting people.

Ok I was ready to go, I spent a good amount of time at Help Island but I was ready to move on…let me out of here I thought. So away I went…where to go?…I popped up the map and off I went…Bear Island. Nice, small island, with a few people mingling about. I went into my first shop. I honestly have no idea what shop it was, but I do remember it was my first shot at a camping bench. “What’s this?” I thought to myself. Hmmm, I can make money just sitting on a bench? Cool, and I sat…all alone in this great little shop listening to 80s music. A man walked in with some “bling” looking hot as most non newbie avatars do. Should I say hi? No, not ready yet. He didn’t say anything to me. Just looked at me and went about his business. I wondered why, was there something wrong with Ms. Oona? Oh well, I had made about 2L$ and I was ready to go. Alright, let’s go check things out. So I went up to an area that had people just standing about. A few were talking, but not many chatting, most IMing I thought. I looked at them all. The women were so beautiful. Long flowing hair, beautiful clothing, lots of jewelry, and gorges bodies. There is no way they did any of that in the appearance tool. I wanted to ask. Still not ready to talk to anyone. Oona was not ready I guess I should say. Even thought I was a Newbie, I knew I would have been laughed at.

OK Over to a private place, I went to fool around with my clothing and hair again. How did they do that? OK I need to research this a little more, I think to myself. So I got off and went straight to Google. I typed in, “Second Life Hair”, “Second Life Clothing”, “Second Life ANYTHING!”. The very first thing that caught my attention, “How to Get Hot Fast and Cheep”. (http://sexsecond.blogspot.com/2007/05/how-to-get-hot-fast-and-cheap.html) Great! Off I went to get hot fast and cheep. It was like a light bulb went off in my head, ”This is so easy…and no money needed upfront”. Excellent! I took notes and read Ms. Lillie’s blog from front to back. (http://sexsecond.blogspot.com/) An excellent read, I recommend it! I said to myself, Sex in SL? Ok not on my top priorities right now, but she had a ton of other great articles that really got me off to a great start. Alright, on I go, back to SL the very next day. Notes in hand I set off to Free Dove (http://www.secondlifeinsider.com/2007/06/15/free-dove-for-free-things/) and a few other places with free stuff. I arrived at Free Dove First. WOW, there were boxes all over. I clicked on every box and took it all. I was a crazy woman. Man my inventory was full and I was ready to unpack. Off to the first sandbox I could find. I landed in this strange place. Full with objects people had made, screaming noises that people were testing out. OK, let’s unpack. I started to drop boxes and try on items. WOW, all this was free and it rocks! I saw the potential for a beautiful Avatar. Oona was going to be the beauty that I always envisioned her to be. I still was not sure what her style was going to be or what I really wanted her to look like, but I knew that I didn’t want her to look like clay and I wanted her to have all the right parts that a woman should have. Oh yes, and long beautiful flowing hair. Ok, I found a skin and some hair and a nice outfit. I am an organizer by nature so I organized all the clothing into categories (recommend this! Very important) and I was ready to go. Next stop Platinum (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Platinum%20Island/144/124/24). This is a whole island that a skin design company called Platinum owns. They have good skins and in the rear of the building they have some for 1L$. I picked up the skin called “Tara” and felt like a new woman. Where do I go now? I opened up the map…at the very top I saw the button “home”. What’s this? I pressed it and off I zoomed to Dublin. Cool, Oona’s from Dublin. I went off to the closest pub and I was ready to meet people.

Once she walked through the door, everyone in the pub welcomed her with open arms…”Hello Oona!” “Wow, people are talking to me”, I thought to myself. Wait, they are talking to Oona. Man what a head trip this is. “Hello ya’ll!” Ms. Oona uttered her first. Oh that felt good, to be excepted and people wanted to talk to her. I struck up a conversation with a male avatar that seemed nice. Others walked in and began talking about The Three Lions Pub. I heard they were going to take off over to the pub. I asked if it was a great place and they all agreed that it was fun, good music, fun people. Excellent! I exclaimed. They invited me to meet them there, and I said great. I looked to the guy I had been talking to after they left and asked him if he knew where the Three Lions pub was. He gave me the locations and I invited him to come with me, sorry, Oona. He passed and said there was too much drama there for him. “Oh No!” I said that maybe I would not go then. He replied that it was drama for him and I should not worry. I said all right cool. I was going to take off. Before I left he offered me group membership to the Blarney Stone. WOW! Group membership, more acceptances. Oona was just rockin today. Wow that trip to Free Dove was paying off. I said thank you and took off. As I landed in Bourton Village in came an IM…Ok, I had no idea how to deal with an IM. It was my friend from the Blarney Stone…”I just can’t go because my ex would be there. “ Ok I thought to myself, his ex…”RL or SL ex?” something to ponder. I heard the great music and I wanted to go try dancing. I had all these new dance moves and I wanted to try them out. I walked in and saw the guys from Blarney Stone. “Hey Oona!” again, acceptance. WOW, Oona is on FIRE!!!! “Hello everyone!” Oona exclaimed. Oona walked onto the dance floor..I popped open a few dances and started. NICE! Oona looks good! I changed the dances with every song, stopped when the music stopped. Then the fun began. The chatter was good and I laughed at all the people’s banter. You could tell they all were friends and had met here often. I was the Newbie in this UK wonderland. Then in walked a tall Av., good looking and his girlfriend and all their friends. It was surreal. It was like being at a real pub/club. You could tell the crazy fun lovin people, the quiet people…once again a head trip. This group was the crazy group. They were talking about having sex and orgasms and all with each other. I laughed and just watched the show. Mr. Crazy himself walked up to a lady, not sure if he knew her or not and decided to pull out his Avs. dick and spewed all over her and the floor. OK, I thought to myself, I knew you could get these attachments, but man, this was crazy. Everyone got upset and Oona declared that there was always one in the crowed. I thought back to the note card message I had gotten when I entered this island. It said something to the affect “NO DRAMA ZONE” I laughed and thought back to my Blarney Stone Friend and his drama here. If this is not a drama zone, I have no idea what one is than. I decided that that was enough for one night and logged off.

I went to bed thinking about all that I had experienced that night. Oona had grown up in one day from a little clay girl into a grown avatar woman. I hoped that people didn’t know I was a newbie. I always strive for perfection in RL and I was finding that I was bringing that to SL too. It was getting hard for me to wrap my head around all the feelings I was having through Oona. I was finding that I was more willing to be outgoing and talk to others once I had her looking decent. I am an outgoing person in RL so that was not going to be hard in SL. I was ready to venture to other places. I was looking forward to the next time I would go to SL. Would I see people I had seen before? Was Oona going to make friends? What was she going to wear? All the things I thought about when going out in RL.

It was a few days before I got on again. I took some time to read more about SL. Like I said I was a perfectionist and I wanted get past the Newbie stage fast. I found more places to get free things and I also found more blogs of people that had avatars on SL for years. I found a great blog that talked about building things and fashion. Both things I was interested in. (http://slnatalia.blogspot.com/) She got me thinking about Photo Shop and maybe I should take a look at it and try out making some clothing. Hmmm something to think about. Then I saw an article on skins. There was a picture of a beautiful avatar woman and it discussed the skin and where you could get one. Oh I was in love. She was beautiful and that was the skin for Oona. I was off and running, finally, the skin that I was looking for. If and when you start SL, you will find that you begin to feel what your Avatar should look like, what their style should be, how they should act. But before I could go buy a skin, I decided to purchase a membership to SL. I had decided that this was for me. Some day I was going to buy a house and set up shop, so I better get serious. So I signed up and Oona had a bank roll. YES, let’s go Shopping!!!
